i am looking for any thing on the welson family . I know that henry welson lived near winneconne in the mid 1850s and i'm look ing any decendant or ancestor of him.His wife was Mary ? they where both from germany. He was from sternburg and she was from Krackow. They also brought their son Fredrick C. who was born Feb.1849 in Schwerin, Mecklenburg, Germany And he married Ellen Chase in March of 1868 Any info .would be of great help.Thanks

Does anyone have any information if there had ever been any kind of landfill or dump area around the 600 block of Foerster Avenue from the early times? Also, if anyone has any pictures of the area as the street was becoming developed, it would be very much appreciated.

Where is this Foerster Ave located? If in Appleton, I read somewhere once that many of the original ravines were used as dumps until they were finally covered over and built on. marjcrane@aol.com

I am searching for any information about these families, especially the KROLL side, I have very little information on Anton who is my maternal grandfather. Anton KROLL b 22 Oct, 1873 in Berlin? Germany came to US in about 1876. Married Hattie WILLIAMS daughter of William Williams and Theodora VANDEN HOOGAN in Oct 1907. They had 3 children, Norbert (Ernie) b 1908 d 1992, Irvin b 1912 d 2000, Alvina b 1914 d 1915, Viola b 1916 married Conrad HEIM 1942 d 1992, William b 1918 d 1920.
Any help greatly appreciated.

This is my Great Grandfather- he was one of the first street railway construction foreman in the country. He superintended the crew which installed Appleton's first car tracks. He also was one of the six chartered members of Zion Lutheran Church. He was Born in Carnitz, Germany. He came to America and settled in Appleton in1881. He was living At 622 E. Randall St. when he died June 1st 1930 he was 79. He left a wife, three sons Albert and Louis of Appleton, and William Jr. of Milwaukee, four daughters: Mrs. Anna Dundon, from Ysilanti, Mich, Mrs John Hanway ( my grandmother) and Mrs. Peter Gregory both from Detroit, Mich, and Mrs. William West of Cleveland, Ohio and 15 grandchildren. I am hoping desperately to find a family member. I have never met any of my Grandmothers family and recently found out my Great Grandfathers name. I live in Florida, so I have to do the research from afar. Any help is greatly appreciated. Kitty

Emily's parents: William J. and Willimina Nohr were buried at Riverside Cemetery . William was buried around June 2, 1930. The address of Riverside Cemetery was at that time, 714 N. Owaissa St. Appleton, WI. I live in Florida, I can't make that trip now, but would love for someone to go and take digital pictures of the graves and email (Kitdair@gmail.com) them to me. I never knew my grandmothers parents or siblings. At the time of Williams death sons Albert , Louis, and William Jr. were still alive along with four daughters: Anna Dundon, Mrs Hanway (my grandmother), Mrs. Peter Gregory, and Mrs. William West. Age 95, died October 22, 2003, at Vallhaven Care Center. She was born August 15, 1908, in Aurora, Illinois, daughter of the late Mike and Louise (Zieder) Hammes. Frances married Gust Backman at Trinity Lutheran Church, Neenah.
Frances is survived by 2 sons: James (Blanche) Backman, Neenah; Bob (Betty) Backman, Prescott Valley, AZ; 5 grandchildren: Cindy (Randy) Kolstad; Mary (Kelly) Longgrear; John Backman; Paul (Debbie) Backman; Robert Backman Jr.; 8 great grandchildren: Josh, Jesse, Justin, Rachel, Aaron, Nick, Jeremy and Markus; 2 sisters, Elsie Berling and Dorothy Radtke; a special niece and her husband, Joan (Archie) Hinahara; Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Gust Backman; 2 grandsons, David and Mark Backman; a brother, John and a sister, Agnes.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 28, 2003, at Martin Luther Church, Neenah, with Pastor Richard A. Maurice officiating. Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Neenah. Friends may call at the church from 1 p.m. until the time of the service. A special thank you to the ladies at Geri-Care Cabin and the staff at Vallhaven Care Center for their care and concern.

I am researching all NOOYEN branches and attempting to complete family groups. *NICOLAS NOOYEN* born 5 Feb 1802 in Boekel-Milheze, Noord Brabant, Netherlands died 14 Mar 1882 in Outagamie Co. Nic Nooyen (wife Johanna Maria Maas) was widowed when he came to Little Chute to live with his daughter PETRONELLA NOOIJEN/NOOYEN born 30 Oct 1834 in Gemert, Noord Brabant, Netherlands and died 4Nov 1891 as Petronella Nooyen-HORKMAN-VANDER WYST (West). Petronella was married twice, at least. One husband was JOHN FRANCIS HORKMAN and they had a daughter MARIA LOUISE HORKMAN who married CHARLES DE YOUNG. Nicolas, Petronella, Maria Louise and Charles were all buried at the De Young family stone in St. Joseph Cemetery, along with other family members. Does anyone know where I can find the above yearbook for sale? This was the year my mother, Doris Meyer, graduated, and I think one of my sisters has her book. She played trombone in the school band and she and her sisters Marge and Fritz were the Meyer Sisters trio in the 50's. Any info on where I could buy one would be greatly appreciated! Does anyone out there remember this family? They lived on Lake St. for years. Thanks.

My mother's family, John A./Hazel C. Meyer and children: John, Clyde, Marjorie (Marge), Doris (Toddy), Edythe (Fritz) attended this church and the girls all sang in the choir. I am looking for information/photos on the Meyer Sisters trio from the 1950's. They performed at the VFW and possibly the church, too. Their pianist was Arlene Ohm, and I'm told she still lives in the area. I don't know the name of the church these days, as EUB and Methodist combined in 1968. Thank you. stafford619@msn.com, Nancy.

I am looking for any information on Peter Bushey. He was born 29 JUN 1837 in Bathurst NB Canada. He lived in Plover WI but was buried in Appleton WI in the 1920s. He was at least 85 years old at the time of his death. He had a brother Alexander in Bayfield WI and a nephew who lived in Appleton. He married Marie Young. His parents names were Firmin Boucher and Celeste Lavigne of Bathurst.

I would like to say thanks just to be able to see these pictures. Appleton's mayor in 1862-64 William Johnson is the brother of my gggrandfather, James Penrose Johnson. He died in the CA goldfields, 1850 and little is known about the family except what is published about William.

AUGUST ENDTER DIED
ON SUNDAY MORNING
PIONEER FREEDOM FARMER SUC-
CUMBS AFTER LINGERING
ILLNESS

August Endter, aged 73 years, died
Sunday morning at 7:30 o'clock at his
home in the town of Freedom after an
illness of several months.
He has been a resident of this county
for forty-four years. He was born in
Germany, February 20, 1839, and came
to this country when he was 16 years
old, staying for a time in Milwaukee
before settling on a farm in the town
of Freedom where he has since been a
prosperous farmer.
Mr. Endter was married fifty years,
April 20 of this year, and was anxious-
ly waiting for the day to celebrate in
honor of the occasion but his health
was very poor and the occasion passed
without celebration.
He leaves a wife and ten children,
Mrs. Fred Lau, Mrs. John Muller, Mrs.
L.A. Stammer, Mrs. George Jacobson,
Mrs. Edward Stammer, Mrs. John Koss,
Charles, Barney, Emil and Fred Endter.
The funeral will be held Wednesday
afternoon at 1o'clock at the house and
2 o'clock at the Lutheran church of
Freedom, Rev. Mr. Dettman officiating.
Interment will be made in the Lutheran
cemetery.
